Description

Many web developers like me need this software.

I know I can compile it myself but the theme is that you have to compile it. If a dependency is missing, also compile it.

It is a long and incessant process for people who only need to use it.

We already have apache. It's just called by its proper name of "httpd".

As for phpmyadmin, that's a little useless without mysql or mariadb at the moment.

No. We will be landing MariaDB instead of MySQL.

JoshStrobl moved this task from Backlog to Accepted For Inclusion on the Package Requests board.

Note: The original reporter of this task has since requested the disabling of their account and deletion of their comments. As it has been done, they will not receive further responses to this task, however this task will remain, not be deleted, and kept open (deletion would be problematic and/or potentially create issues due to the linking of the Phabricator task to the Differential patch).

I don't think this needs to be packaged.

It can be installed like any other php cms.
Download the zip file and unzip it in your document root, create a config.inc.php in phpmyadmin's root folder and edit it to fit your needs.
The config.inc.php can be created manually or using a setup script.

I second that. It is easy to install and run PhpMyAdmin by oneself and thus there would be little benefit if at all including it as a system package in Solus.

JoshStrobl claimed this task.
JoshStrobl added a project: Needs Maintainer.

This has sat in accepted for inclusion for over a year now. Clearly, there is a lack of demand for the inclusion of this software, nobody has stepped up to provide a patch, maintain it, and properly integrate it. Closing as a result. Feel free to reopen but only when someone offers a patch via our proper patch submission methods and volunteers to be maintainer.

Those who need this immediately should follow the instructions by @fbg13.
